Okay, so much going on today, I can’t tell you.

Does it count if much of it is in my mind? LOL

  1. Going to get my HAIR CUT. This is a big deal. I’ve been getting by on Covid Cuts (self administered). First two kicked booty! (Translation: I did good, looked good, and the shock was real. )

2. Had to send an apology email. Did a stupid thing this past week, and didn’t realize it. Trying not to be toats broken up about how dumb I/we humans can be at times.

3. Working on micro goals today.

4. Oh, the normal. Move, eat well, drink water. Thank the chocolate that came into my life for today for its service. LOL

Teaser for Book by Susan Saxx titled When You Came

Hanging in there?

So, it’s February. Coooold.

Yet the barest bits of sunshine are peeking into my livingroom right now, as I sit cradled in the evil papasan. (You know. The one that wants me to lay back, relax, and play. Or veg out. Yup. It’s complete and utter hibernation, all wrapped up in a bamboo and fluffy-cushioned chair.)

Portents of better things to come, that illuminating sunshine. Kitties are deposited around me, close by. Peaceful.

I’m hoping the little mouse I saw outside yesterday (actually two nights ago, as a surprise dark streak across the snow) is well. And warm. I may pop a little piece of apple or banana out there for him/her. First though, I’ll google, see if that’s good for him. Her. The tiny presence. (City people, right?)

But hey. You know! Beatrix Potter and all that!!

Here’s a few pix of Mousey-poo, and Kitty-poo–checking out Mousey-poo. (Who’s secretly holding up a little mousey middle finger to Kitty, saying…Ha! That there’s a thick piece of glass between us. So you can lookee…but no touchee.

Patience.

The Sighting

Ha. Suckah!!

Plus, your mistress is giving me apples soon. So there!)

Okay, if the imaginary conversations between these two are filling my brain, maybe it’s time to get actually writing on my wip. Right? (FYI: wip = work in progress).

I hope you have a lovely February day. Only one last thing remains. That little voice deep inside of me…

(…it’s not REALLY an imaginary conversation, right??)

RIGHT??

Today’s AMAZING…!

I got a good tip today, and I’m going to jump on this sucker. ASAP!

In uncertain times, either personally or a grander scale, make a point of chronicling ONE AMAZING THING a day. It could be something you experience, something you take for granted normally, or that you see. Anything that jumps into your consciousness…whatever jumps into your consciousness…is the right thing. And if it’s ‘ordinary’, or ‘small’ – all the better.

So I’m starting today.

AMAZING:

The snow we got overnight. I look out and it’s a fluffy, white scene. Snow is piled up on the window sill, and I heard a mourning dove coo, too. Ordinary, lovely, yet a bit of a miracle, when you think about it. All of it.

It’s amazing.

What’s YOUR ‘amazing’ today?

A Valentine’s Day Ski Resort Read…for YOU. (EXCERPT)

Have you ever wanted to hang out at a snowy mountain ski resort?

More, in the company of a blond, handsome and hunky Ski Patrol first responder? Teaser of Ski Patroller standing on a snowy mountain from When You Came by Susan Saxx

(Yeah. Throwing in an adorbs little puppy in ‘avvy dog’ training, too. Just to sweeten the Valentine’s Day gooey chocolate and flowers and love n’ stuff pot.)

Here’s your chance!

In my full-length novel When You Came (part of the connected REAL MEN series),  the curvy, very plain-Jane academic geek Keara,  is forced into a job at a newly opened ski resort in the mountains of British Columbia.  This woman, though (who hates skiing), has BIG problems on her mind.  Wants nothing to do with skiing, or inane pursuits like that. She has an agenda. It’s time-sensitive, and really…it’s critically important.

Yet it doesn’t help she’s forced to work with a nordic god ski patroller. Who’s her boss. Who, if she let it, makes her blood race.

Yeah, like that’s gonna happen. Ha. Not with this extra weight on me.

But things are not always what they seem. Let’s pull the curtain aside and peek into what’s happening at Snowy Peaks on Terrence Point mountain, Canada, this snowy February morning, right now….

~~~~~~
     Sven and Keara strode into the ski chalet early the next morning, dogs in tow. It was Day One of the Valentine’s Day Extravaganza.
But the mood was decidedly different than just a short twenty-four hours ago. Hell.
He’d worked late the night before. Keara and Buddy had stayed with him too, because of the still present danger of Blaine, or a crony of his, finding her at the cabin. He’d been adamant on that, and there’d been no disagreement.
But after that mess of a reunion with Tara Lynn? He’d sought Keara out. He’d caught up to her where he’d first given her hell, more than a week ago, in the unfinished bit of the resort, back in the deserted area.
This time it felt like it was him that was dancing fast to give an answer that would make sense. How the tables had turned, and through no fault of his own. “Keara,” he’d said, imploring her with his eyes.
There was nothing between them, officially. No promises.
But hell, there was something between them. There could be something between them. The more time he spent with her, the more he knew there could be. Something.
He didn’t dare analyze what that something could be, but it floated in his soul daily. He knew what he felt, more and more, every day.
Peace. Trust. Enjoyment. The knowledge he could entrust her with whatever was heavy on his mind. Or light. And she’d know how to handle it. Would give it the respect or importance it deserved.
And more? The spark—the solid beginnings of a firestorm—whenever he saw her and didn’t curate it, or force it down.
     A sexual firestorm.
 It slapped the breath from his lungs, at a moment’s notice.
Crazy Keara. Crazy, spreadsheet-loving, animal-protecting, mental superstar, Keara. Dear God. He had a thing for her. And it was becoming harder to deny, every damn day.
It was scary. Despite the fact she was currently his employee, and under him—and not in the good way–there was a little voice in him telling him to take note. This could be the big one.
     Relationships. Love. All scary, all the time.
It had been scary when he was five, and it hadn’t changed one iota now that he was twenty-seven.
Snowed in, in a cabin, on a mountain.
Who doesn’t love a snowed-in cabin in winter, especially if there’s a gorgeous, kind guy and a sweet puppy to share it with?
Keep reading to get a peek into When You Came, a Valentine’s Day novel set on Terrence Point mountain, with all of the above. 🙂
psst. I DO love Valentine’s Day. It celebrates…LOVE. And it’s a perfect day to cuddle up with a good read!
So to give you a cheer-up, and a picture into the world of Kaera, my academic-geek, curvy, anti-exercise, and anti-skiing heroine in my Valentine’s Day story (the one who’s thrown into the trendy and unfamiliar world of a newly opened ski resort in British Columbia, along with an event planner’s job she does NOT WANT), I’ve uploaded a special, sneak peek for you. It’s an excerpt of one of the  winter cabin scenes.  red heart
Notes from the Ranch
It’s another peaceful morning here at the Chez Saxx Ranch. And it’s February. Already.
My view is lovely. I see trees, and that indomitable sky. Smatterings of grey-blue clouds, and the white streak of a plane gone by.
The other thing I see is the screen in front of me, as well as books and notebooks EVERYWHERE. I’m one of those – a paper person. I exult in notes and notebooks…and oh. Don’t get me started on clipboards.
Maybe it’s a way to keep the joys of school, from when I was a little kid, alive and present. Learning, then connecting ideas and applying them, was always a source of wonder to me.
But it sure makes for a messy, damn place. LOL. I keep it in check, but ’tis like yeast. IT JUST WANTS TO GROW. 🙂
Okay, now it’s time to get on THE BOOK. Whipping Real Man 1 into the best story it can be – one more final pass, then a launch date for it and Real Man 2.
Signing off from the ranch. (*aka – my place*)
